Alpacka Rafts, founded in 2000 by Sheri Tingey and her son Thor, revolutionized packrafting with the introduction of their innovative “White Boat.” This pioneering design marked the beginning of their journey into crafting high-performance packrafts.
Alpacka Rafts takes pride in producing packrafts with premium parts and materials, all Made in the USA. Their fabrics are carefully selected for their tear strength, UV protection, and long-term durability, ensuring that their packrafts can withstand the rigors of the outdoors. The brand offers a range of hull materials, including the proprietary 210-denier Standard Nylon, 210-denier Ultralight Nylon, 420-denier Nylon, and Vectran® Fabric, known for its exceptional strength. For packraft floors, they use 840d Ballistic Nylon and 420-denier Nylon, both Made in the USA, to optimize weight and durability.
When it comes to seats and spray decks, Alpacka Rafts utilizes a mix of Made in USA Oxford and ripstop nylons, each coated with lightweight PU laminate, based on considerations of durability, weight, and packability. Even the small parts of their packrafts, such as zippers and fasteners, are sourced from industry leaders like Duraflex, YKK, and ITW-Nexus, with their Cargo Fly zippers made in Germany by Ti-Zip.
Alpacka Rafts’ commitment to quality, durability, and performance has made them a trusted name in the world of packrafting, allowing adventurers to explore remote and challenging waters with confidence in their equipment.
